Interpolating Wilson loops and enriched RG flows

چکیده

A bstract We study new 1 / 24 BPS circular Wilson loops in ABJ(M) theory, which are defined terms of several parameters that continuously interpolate between previously known 6 (both bosonic and fermionic) 2 fermionic loops. compute the expectation value these operators up to second order perturbation theory using a one-dimensional effective field approach. Within dimensional regularization, we find non-trivial β -functions for parameters, marginally relevant deformations triggering RG flows from UV fixed point represented by loop an IR loop. Generically, along all at least one supercharge is preserved, so refer them as enriched flows. In particular, points connected through operators. This holds framing zero, consequence regularization scheme employed. also establish validity g-theorem, relating values corresponding flow, discuss defect SCFT living on contour.

RG Flow , Wilson Loops and the Dilaton Tadpole

We discuss the role of the dilaton tadpole in the holographic description of non-supersymmetric gauge theories that are conformal in the planar limit. On the string theory side, the presence of the dilaton tadpole modifies the AdS background inducing a logarithmic running for the radius and the dilaton. Using the holographic prescription we compute the Wilson loop on the gravity side and find a...

RG flows and bifurcations

Interpreting RG flows as dynamical systems in the space of couplings we produce a variety of constraints, global (topological) as well as local. These constraints, in turn, rule out some of the proposed RG flows and also predict new phases and fixed points, surprisingly, even in familiar theories such as O(N) model, QED3, or QCD4. © 2017 Published by Elsevier B.V. Counting RG flows

Interpreting renormalization group flows as solitons interpolating between different fixed points, we ask various questions that are normally asked in soliton physics but not in renormalization theory. Can one count RG flows? Are there different “topological sectors” for RG flows? What is the moduli space of an RG flow, and how does it compare to familiar moduli spaces of (supersymmetric) dowai...

Localized Tachyons and RG Flows

We study condensation of closed string tachyons living on defects, such as orbifold fixed planes and Neveu-Schwarz fivebranes. We argue that the high energy density of localized states decreases in the process of condensation of such tachyons. In some cases this means that ceff decreases along the flow; in others, ceff remains constant and the decreasing quantity is a closed string analog, gcl,...

Wilson Loops and Minimal Surfaces

The AdS/CFT correspondence suggests that the Wilson loop of the large N gauge theory with N = 4 supersymmetry in 4 dimensions is described by a minimal surface in AdS5 × S5. We examine various aspects of this proposal, comparing gauge theory expectations with computations of minimal surfaces. There is a distinguished class of loops, which we call BPS loops, whose expectation values are free fro...
